During this FMEA theory training, the students learn below objectives:

  • How to organize the FMEA process.
  • The 14 FMEA steps.
  • Relation between FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
  • Use of an FMEA tool to create and work with FMEAs.

A typical FMEA training takes 1 day. During this training, we will discuss at least below topics.

  • Introduction to FMEA
  • Purpose and importance of FMEA
  • When to start with FMEA (Six Sigma, IATF 16949, SPC)
  • Organizing the FMEA process
  • Roles and teams in the FMEA process
  • FMEA project plan
  • Methodology and criteria
  • Linking FMEA to Control Plan

This training will be valuable for Engineering and Quality Managers, Engineers, internal auditors and those interested in creating FMEAs and those who are responsible for process improvement.

The training can be conducted online or onsite by our local representative either in a central location or at your production sites. Please contact our office (sales@datalyzer.com) for possibilities.

The generic FMEA proces can be described with the below 14 steps. These steps will be discussed more in detail during the FMEA training.

  1. Scope of the process
  2. Flow charting
  3. Process function requirement
  4. Potential failure mode
  5. Potential effects of the failure
  6. Severity
  7. Classification
  8. Potential causes
  9. Occurrence ranking
  10. Current process control
  11. Detection
  12. Recommended actions
  13. Implement recommended actions
  14. Evaluate action results

Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) is a systematic approach guiding the organization to prevent quality problems and indicate where improvements are possible and control is required.

Due to the systematic approach and the fact that customer requirements are essential in the FMEA process, FMEA is often an important starting point of the implementation of a continuous improvement program.

Automotive FMEA training VDA-AIAG

The harmonized VDA-AIAG FMEA manual was released in June 2019. Production sites operating within the Automotive Industry are guided to this new method/ standard. We offer (transition) training to help organizations implement this latest FMEA standard. Contact your account manager or sales@datalyzer.com for more information or a quote.
